Another excellent Edublogs.org weblog
It’s official, all the room 7 children completed an online survey created with SurveyMonkey. The classroom name chosen with the most votes was Blue 7 Dolphin.
What an exciting week, we have been investigating time and Pirate Pete came to see us.
First of all we used pendulums to measure how long it took us to do different tasks: walking along the corridor, stacking blocks and writing words.
We then found out that a pendulum was inaccurate. We needed a better way to measure time.
We thought of lots of great ideas, such as, using the sun, our body ‘clocks’, watches and clocks. we then investigated clocks and soon many of us were telling the time very well.
Pirate Pete burst into the classroom on Tuesday and gave us all a bit of a fright. He brought with him his treasure chest full of things he found on the beach. He had put them all in boxes which we had to put our hands in and feel what was inside. Some of us made faces as we didn’t much like how some things felt. We thought about adjectives (describing words) to describe the contents of the boxes. The words included:
squishy, ridgy, hard, soft, round, spiky, plasticky, shelly, spongy and we had many more on our record sheets.
Great job Crew
In term 2 the crew of the good ship Room 7 will begin a voyage of discovery of the coast and coastal waters around Adelaide. We will be investigating the creatures that live in the sea, the different environments and how our actions affect those environments. It is sure to be an exciting learning journey for us all.
While we investigate the coast Room 7 will be our ship. All the Room 7 students (crew) have shown they are all very creative and imaginative. Can you think of a name we could call our ship? When you have thought of some names, share your best one in the comments section below.
Have a great holiday and see you all in term 2.

The Room 7 Learners and Workers had a great day. We had fantastic weather and everyone did their best. Congratulations to the Blue Team (Light) who won overall. Oops-Thanks for correcting the team name Lily.

Fantastic blogging everyone. Everyone had a go and nearly all the Room 7 Learners and Workers commented on the blog. I think you all deserve a blogging certificate:
Today the Room 7 Learners and Workers counted bags of bottle tops, pop sticks, bread bag closures and counters. We found out it is easier to count things in groups of ten and singles than individually. Here are some of us learning and working together.
Everyone in Room 7 has one of these. Do you know what it is called?
If you know the answer, share it with everyone else by leaving a comment on this post.
The Room7 Learners and Workers are great thinkers and problem solvers. This week some of us drew pictures of Marvin. Use your imagination to think about what the diagram below could represent in Marvin’s life. You may use the comments section of this post to submit your ideas.
Look at the image below. What do you think this is called?
